Lugar y fecha de nacimiento. June Havoc (1916 - ) Actress Born As: Ellen Evangeline Hovick Born: November 8, 1916, Seattle, WA The younger sister of Gypsy Rose Lee, she too was driven by their ambitious stage mother and made her professional debut at the age of two, playing bits in silent film shorts. By age five she was a headliner in vaudeville, earning $1,500 a week. She married the first of three husbands at 13. In the early 30s, during the Depression and the demise of vaudeville, she worked as a model and participated in dance marathons. (She recalled that period of her life in her autobiography, Early Havoc 1959, and in the Broadway play Marathon '33 1963, which she wrote and directed.) She later performed in Catskill Mountain resorts and appeared in stock before her Broadway debut in 1936. Her success in the 1940 production of Pal Joey resulted in a Hollywood invitation. But despite solid performances as a leading lady or second lead in a number of films, the blonde, blue-eyed actress never became a top screen star and was cast mainly in routine productions. She had more success in her repeated appearances on the stage (she won a Donaldson Award for Mexican Hayride in 1944) and later also on TV. She married TV and sometime film director William Spier.
